Best Method For Cleaning Car Windows Without Streaks

The best method to clean a car window is to always clean the bodywork first – you don’t want dirty water dripping onto clean windows. Clean windows in a z motion, starting from the top. A great way to avoid smears and/or streaks is to use a Marigold Squeaky Clean Flexi Microfibre Cloth. Thanks to the special absorbent microfibre, this cloth both cleans and dries, so not only saving time, but leaving a fantastic streak free finish.  Clean the glass in a z motion and make sure you repeatedly go over the same area multiple times for that extra shine.

How To Clean Inside Car Windows

Hand prints from kids and nose marks from nosey pets are just a couple of common ways marks appear inside car windows. It’s important to keep them clean, so you can not only see better, but you also don’t want your kids and pets to be exposed to accumulating dirt and bacteria on the windows. The Marigold Let It Shine! Microfibre Cloths remove 99% of bacteria with just water*, so you can keep your pets and kids safe from chemicals and bacteria. Due to the capillary effect, our microfiber cloths absorb water but also fats and oils like fingerprints.
Dust and dirt that accumulates on the inside of your windows can diminish the air quality inside your car. It can cause mould and grime to build up if there’s also a lot of moisture in your car. If you spend a lot of time in your car, it’s essential to keep the windows clean inside to ensure you’re not breathing in anything harmful.
If you’re worried about damaging the interior of your car, cover the areas below where you are cleaning with a large towel to collect any drips that might fall off. Wring your cloth well, to remove any excess moisture and to avoid using too much liquid, so that there is less excess liquid that can fall from your cloth. After cleaning, leave the door open to ventilate the air and let the moisture from cleaning out. This will help prevent the mould from coming back.

4 Car Window Cleaning Hacks

1.    If you have any stubborn sticky marks such as handprints or sticky residue left from a Sat Nav, then try an oil based product to remove it. Some examples of this can be peanut butter or cooking oil. Leave the substance to soak for 15 minutes and wipe away with warm water and a Marigold Let It Shine On and On! Microfibre Cloths
2.    You may decide to use a ready-made glass cleaning liquid***, however we recommend creating your own natural solution. Mix together 1/3 white vinegar**, 1/3 rubbing alcohol, 1/3 distilled water into a spray bottle. You can also opt to add a squeeze of lemon juice or a few drops of essential oils for a fresh, clean scent. This concoction is ideal to remove not only dirt and marks, but also any grease or oil.***
3.    Never wash windows in direct sunlight, as they dry too quickly, leaving unsightly smears. Aim to clean your windows on a cool, yet dry day for the best results. Similarly, avoid washing your windows on a day that’s too cold, not only will it be uncomfortably cold for you, but the liquids may freeze when spread thinly on the window pane!
4.    If your wipers become less effective and smeary you can clean them with white vinegar** and a microfibre cloth such as one of the Marigold Let It Shine! Microfibre Cloths. By cleaning your window wipers it will also prevent more dirt being rubbed onto your windscreen just after you’ve cleaned it!
