FAQs

FAQs

Q: How do you clean a scourer?

A: Leave to soak in warm soapy water, then thoroughly rinse out and let the scourer air dry. This method is suitable for both metal and foam scourers.

The Marigold Scrub Away Heavy Duty Scourer and the Marigold Cleaning Me Softly Non Scratch Scourer also have easy to rinse surfaces - which will help your scourers stay fresher for longer.

Q: Can I wash Marigold Scourers in the dishwasher?

A: We don’t recommend washing scourers in the dishwasher. Some scourers have an open structure which can trap food particles from other items in the dishwasher. If heavy duty scourers move around, there is the risk they could damage delicate items. Finally there could also be residue of dishwasher detergents left inside the scourer, if it does not fully wash out during the dishwasher cycle.

Q: Can I wash Marigold scourers in the washing machine?

A: In case scourers are very dirty or smelly do a machine wash. Scrunchie Heavy Duty Scourers should not be washed in the washing machine. All other  scourers are washable up to 60°, however we recommend washing isolated without laundry or in an enclosed wash bag or net. Do not wash with delicate items and  do not tumble dry them or use chlorine bleach. To maintain the life of your scourer, we also recommend avoiding direct sunlight.

Q: What is a scourer used for?

A: Marigold scourers can be used for everyday cleaning tasks such as washing up. However, they can also pack a punch when it comes to deep cleaning tasks in the kitchen, such as oven cleans, cleaning the barbecue, and wiping down your microwave and sinks. We always advise, when using the abrasive side of a scourer, to always test on a small, inconspicuous surface area first.

Q: What is a metal scourer?

A: Metal scourers like the Marigold Scrunchie Heavy Duty Scourers and the Marigold Scrub Away Scourer effectively remove hard to remove dirt or burnt-on food. Stainless steel is great for these heavy duty tasks, as it’s strong and durable, yet flexible enough to be able to get into small corners.

Q: What is the best scourer for washing dishes?

A: Marigold Cleaning Me Softly Non Scratch Scourer is perfect for everyday tasks such as washing plates, glasses and cutlery. It can also tackle any stubborn dirt with it’s Teflon™ approved abrasive side1 Use only when wet and test first on an inconspicuous area first. Do not use the harsh chemicals and bleach, dry powder or abrasive detergents.

Q: What scourer is best for non-stick pans?

A: The Marigold Cleaning Me Softly Scourer is approved by TeflonTM for non-stick coatings. Use only when wet and test first on an inconspicuous area first. Do not use the harsh chemicals and bleach, dry powder or abrasive detergents. The wave structure of the polyurethane coating ensures a gentle removal of stubborn stains. It breaks off the dirt instead of grinding it down, which prevents delicate surfaces from getting scratched or damaged.

Q: What do you use metal scourers for?

A: Metal scourers are great for tackling those tougher messes (such as burnt on food and dried on messes) – so perfect for things like cleaning the BBQ, metal shelves in the oven, even metal pots and pans. However, due to the tough nature of these scourers, they are not suitable for delicate surfaces and you should always test metal scourers on a small inconspicuous area before use.

Q: How do you store scourers?

A: Rinse clean under the tap. Allow to air dry and avoid direct sunlight.

Q: How often should you change washing up sponge?

A: It depends on the toughness and intensity of the dirt, leftovers and grease on your surfaces or dishes. We suggest replacing your scourer approximately once a month. However, how often you clean the scourer effects its durability as well. Bear in mind that a porous and dirty scourer may cause scratches, due to dried on dirt and food particles that may be trapped on it. Rinsing the scourer after each use helps to prolong the life of the scourer.

*Use only when wet and test first on an inconspicuous area. Do not use with harsh chemicals and bleach, dry powder or abrasive detergent.
